Our early Beginnings

Founded in 1949 by Roy Lowe and Don Young, started as a Minneapolis Moline tractor dealer and gas station.

New Holland Hay and Forage

We took on the New Holland hay and forage line of equipment

1952

Added the New Holland Hay Equipment line.

1954

Massey Ferguson line

Took on Massey Ferguson

1959

Late 1970's

Keith Winkler (left) and Merle Birch (right) ran the parts department. The old card file had over 33,000 parts inventory cards that were replaced by our first computer in 1989.

Ownership

Roy Lowe retired; Walter Stutz and Carlton (CK) Steiner bought his share of the company.

1979

Lowe & Young started selling Krone hay and forage equipment.

1980's

Lowe & Young started selling Kinze planters and grain carts

Ford line

Kinze equipment and Ford were brought on as new lines of equipment.

1986

Don Young retires

7 years after Lowe retired, Don Young followed suit. Stutz and Steiner bought his shares of the business, making them the second generation of owners of Lowe & Young

1987

Krone Line

Krone became the sixth line of equipment at L&Y

Computer System

Lowe & Young gets first computer system

1989

50 Year Anniversary

Lowe & Young celebrates 50 years!

1999

Fendt Line

Fendt tractors become the next big line of equipment

2005

Carlton Steiner retired

Boreman, Forrer, Steiner, and Hartzler bought out CK Steiner following his retirement from the company. This makes them the third generation of owners at L&Y.
